Telehealth

Telehealth has revolutionized the way we look at medicine. According to WHO, ‘Telehealth’ is the delivery of health care services, where patients and providers are separated by distance1 Information and communication technology can address major challenges faced by developed and developing countries in providing accessible, cost effective, high-quality health care services1 This is especially helpful in rural and underserved population in developing countries- those who generally suffer from lack of access to health care.

My interest in telehealth has been since last 12 years since my training in England, where tele-consultations were part of the training in family medicine. It was impressive to see how many medical issues could be dealt with on the phone. This technology has improved in the last decade and is the future of medicine. I hope to be helpful to as many people as possible with this.

Counseling services for adults

The current levels of stress and competition has taken a toll on all of us. This has led to a rampant psychological issues in the population. This includes use of drugs and psychiatric medicines and visits. Studies suggest that the use of counseling reduces use of medicines and emergency department visits2 I offer counseling on a variety of conditions like weight loss, sleep related problems, depression, stress, anger, relationships, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, health and nutrition, and many others.

This is offered to individual clients and couples. I also offer advice and treatment on common medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, allergies, heart problems, asthma/COPD, thyroid disorders, rashes and skin problems, fitness related injuries and nutrition, infections and flu amongst others. My training in England along with use of modern resources has led to tremendous success in all my patients.

Counseling services for Adolescents

As in adults, the stress of school and transition from tweens to adolescent takes a toll on the psychological health of the kids. My interest in this topic started as dinner time talk with my kids explaining them how to cope with their stress while they grow through their tween years. I realized that they had so many questions about things that the schools could never cover. The present generation I realized had stresses and pressures that were very different from the way we grew up.

I decided to sit with them on a regular basis and cover topics that were most relevant for a successful transition through these tough time in their life. I could see the transformation instantaneously. This led to more formal sessions and expanded exponentially to include tele-counselling for the kids.

Workshops for teens and tweens

As the kids grow up from their teens and tweens, a variety of topics are never taught in schools. These workshops are designed to engage these kids in an interactive session over topics like nutrition, health, bullying at school, internet usage, communication with parents, meeting deadlines at school among others.
